About
We trust it was circa 67′ or conceived in 07′, but management often lies. We suspect it was closer to the time of Adam & Eve, but far from the apple. Bartok was a man (we assume) and so was Rimbaud, and they were captives of this world, or the world to them? and so are we. We met, fell in love, and decided to play music – together, asking: “How does one hear?” You might remember in a dream or in a political document found in a desk drawer. Lia plays the cello, often time with lots of distortion and/or echo, and does some singing. Ryan is the guitarist and writes the words, which he sings. Together they started writing music as Heavy Birds ( named after a James Joyce metaphor) around 2007-2008, and began recording soon after. Their debut album, entitled “Sounds of the American Underground”, was recorded and produced by Ryan & Lia onto a Roland 8 – track, and they employed fellow musician and friend Erik Babineau to help mix and master the tracks. It was self-released in March 2009, and is available through itunes and amazon.com. Currently, the Heavy Birds reside in Brooklyn, NY and are starting sessions for their sophmore album.
